課程概述

亞洲的中產階級、公民社會與民主
1. 本專題旨在探討自1980年代以來，亞洲新民主(第三波民主化)的打造過程中，中產階級與公民社會所扮演的角色，需要特別明確釐清的是在這「中產階級-公民社會-民主化」三合一的論述中，誰是那些為民主發聲的中產階級?如何發聲?如何行動?又是哪種公民社會組織起而行，發揮帶動民主化的集體行動?這是「特定化」(specification)的經驗問題。

2. 除了上述的「特定化」經驗課題外，還要注意上述的三合一論述在不同民主化、政治轉型歷史發展過程是呈現方向「一致」抑或時有「轉向」或是「逆轉」?這即涉及論述的「一致性」和在歷史脈絡中的「歷史因素」。
 

課程目標
 本專題將以東北亞的台灣和南韓和東南亞的菲律賓和泰國為討論的「對照」和「比較」個案，以驗證上述「特定化」、「一致性」和「歷史因素」的關鍵考量。 
課程要求
 授課同學依自己興趣就本課程的主題選擇子題，針對台灣或亞洲的民主經驗進行經驗性的檢視。
